Marking the 30th anniversary of Sergiu Celibidache’s passing, this remarkable 3-CD set presents over three hours of previously unreleased live recordings, all appearing commercially for the first time.
Captured at the Berliner Festwochen during the 1980s – a period widely regarded as one of the great peaks of Celibidache’s career – these performances feature the maestro with his closest musical partners, the Munich Philharmonic. After taking charge of the orchestra in 1979, Celibidache transformed the ensemble through his famously intensive rehearsal process, forging an extraordinary musical partnership that would define the final decades of his career.

The collection includes Schumann’s Symphony No. 4, Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler Symphony and Symphonic Metamorphosis, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 and a monumental, approximately 42-minute account of Mussorgsky/Ravel’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

A major archival discovery, this set offers a rare opportunity to experience Celibidache and the Munich Philharmonic at the height of their remarkable partnership.
